Seeing that this is the last Friday of February (time flies right?!), in this edition of 'Friday Favorites' I decided to reach out to some, in my opinion, pretty dope individuals and ask them a simple question;
What makes you proud to be black?

Hello lovelies! :)

I hope you have noticed, but if you have not, TJE received a MUCH NEEDED makeover and I could not be happier with the results! See, when I started my baby almost two years ago, I knew that I wanted to be a blogger, but I was terribly afraid of the unknown. What I mean is that I wasn't sure how it would turn out or how I would feel a few months into blogging. During this time, I was still struggling with needing approval from others for my decisions. Would people even like this page? I wasn't sure if I would keep it up. Therefore, I didn't put a whole lot of money into it while I was trying to get a feel for how things would go.

Friday Favorites | Last Minute Vday Gift Guide

Happy Friday lovelies!

So it has been a LOVE-FILLED week here on TJE. You've gotten outfit inspiration, a gift guide for men, ideas on how to enjoy the holiday as a single person, and now... it is the Friday before Valentine's Day and if you're like a lot of people, you've probably waited until the last minute to get that special gift for the loves in your life. Don't forget what I've been saying all week; Valentine's Day doesn't have to be JUST for your significant other. You can buy gifts for your "Galentine", mother, grandmother, sister, best friend, etc. The options are endless.. but what happens when you wait until the last minute?! You freak out?! Nope!

Valentine's Day can really feel like the worst day ever for a single gal, but it really doesn't have to be that way. I remember being single on Valentine's Day a couple times throughout my teen years and I remember the days leading up to Valentine's Day feeling like it didn't bother me and I'd be okay. But once the day actually came and I didn't have anything to do or anyone to do it with, that's when I started feeling the "Vday Blues".

Happy Hump Day Love Birds!

Today, I wanted to talk about the Valentine's Day gifts guys really want. Sometimes it can be really hard to find gifts for guys because it seems as though all the gifts for this holiday are tailored toward women, and let's be honest, guys deserve to be shown love on this day too. I was having a conversation with my husband about this because I wanted him to put together a list for you guys since, you know, he's a man! Well, during the duration of our conversation based off of the responses he was giving me, I decided that I am trying something completely different here on TJE today... I'm letting my husband take over! That's right guys, today's post is ALL him, so I apologize in advance for his craziness, haha!
 Hey everyone! Happy 1st of February! :)

February 1st marks the 1st day of the "love month" as some people like to call it and what better way to kick off love month than to talk about love?! I can talk about love no matter what time of year, but it just only seems right to talk about it now. I remember one of Marcus and I's first Valentine's Day's together. We were both still in college and we didn't have a whole lot of money, but my man was still determined to make it a great day for me. I made him this homemade calendar that highlighted all of our special times we had together during our first year in our relationship and I was SO proud of it. To this day, I don't really think he liked it too much. Well, I wouldn't say he didn't like it, but it wasn't what he wanted from me. See, I didn't know his love language at the time and I was just acting off of what I always liked myself. Y'all, I am so grateful for the book called "The Five Love Languages" because it truly helped me to learn the way my husband wants to be loved.
