Here we are guys! Week three into my new lifestyle change utilizing some best practices found in Joel Marion’s book, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight, and I have some updates for you guys! Back in my first post, I talked about the reasons why I wanted to take on this challenge were because 1) I was over feeling tired and sluggish based off of the foods I was eating, and 2) I always ate in the late evenings anyway, so I wanted to do it the right way that would benefit me rather than hinder me in the long run. I have to say guys, so far so good! I truly have noticed a boost in my energy levels after implementing a lot of the food choices found in chapter three called, ‘Energizing Lunches and Fat-Burning Dinners with Portion Volumization’. I had already been eating some of the foods mentioned, but not in the proper portion sizes. Also, in this chapter Joel talks about how it is okay to consume carbs in the evenings! Amazing right?! He says, “Having carbs in the evening is also a great weight loss strategy. When you’re active, your body burns mainly carbohydrates and muscle glycogen for energy. By eating carbs at night, you allow your body to use them to restore glycogen for energy the next day and provide your body with the glucose it needs to regulate your blood sugar levels during sleep.” Keep giving me all of this good info Joel, I am loving it!
Having more energy as a result of implementing these practices has helped me so much to do more things for me. In chapter six of this book, ‘Success Begins in the Mind’, Joel talks about the importance of preparing your mind for this lifestyle change you are about to experience. The main point that stood out to me was developing a morning routine. I have been so intentional since starting this program about developing a routine and sticking to it. I have been making our bed every single morning, I started yoga as a way to mediate and clear my head, I take my vitamins daily, and I’ve started journaling again which is something I truly missed. Having more energy throughout the day gives me the extra boost to get these things done, as well as take care of any work I may need to do. It truly is such a great feeling.
So far, I am loving the food lists and the recipe ideas! I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet, but I have a few saved and ready to go very soon. I just need to hit the store for some of the ingredients I don’t already have and it will be a go!

ReplyDeleteI'm still totally fascinated by the concept of this particular diet lifestyle, because I was always told not to eat food in the evenings. While I totally still snack at night, I find myself feeling heavy and sluggish. I guess I gotta give this book a read and see how it could help!
ReplyDeleteI do love that you uncovered this information through your experience, because like I mentioned before we've been told for so long eating after 7 is the worst thing ever for us. Thanks for sharing this information!
