I don't know about you guys, but sometimes I really struggle to get the ball rolling on my day. It can feel like the hardest thing in the world to get motivated to get things accomplished! It really is a random thing, too. Sometimes I wake up super motivated and ready to start and CRUSH my day, other times, I just want to lay in bed and play candy crush all day long. Two different crushes, one not so beneficial, haha.
I mean, let's just be honest here. Some days, we just are not feeling it! AT ALL! Is that a valid excuse to not do anything productive? I'd say yes, sometimes. :) All the time? No! Which is why I thought this post would be important! I wonder what Beyonce does on the days she feels de-motivated. I'm sure she doesn't lay in bed playing candy crush...
Anyway, here are six ways I have found to help me to motivate myself.
- JUST START
Sometimes, we just have to give ourselves a pep talk and just start whatever task we are putting off and then let the motivation catch up with you. I'll be honest; every time I sit down at the computer to write a blog post, I don't always know what it'll be about until I start writing. Then, all of a sudden I have huge motivation and I get it done!
- CHANGE YOUR SCENERY
If you always do things in the same place and you're lacking motivation, maybe a change of scenery will do you some good. Go to a coffee shop, park, or library and see if that doesn't spark some inspiration to motivate you.
- ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS
When I know I'll be tempted to play games on my phone instead of doing what I need to be doing, I'll probably leave my phone in a different room so I won't be tempted to pick it up and play the games. I'll give myself about an hour or two and then when I feel I deserve a break, I may go find my phone. :)
- SET DEADLINES
This really works for me! I set deadlines for myself, just like college days and I feel more obligated to get things done because it feels like I am competing with myself in a way. I tell myself that if I don't meet a certain deadline, then there will be a penalty like school days. It puts the pressure on and I am definitely one of those people that work BEST under pressure.
- REMIND YOURSELF HOW AWESOME YOU ARE
Be optimistic! Don't be hard on yourself! Remember why you're doing what you're doing and celebrate how far you have come along the way. It can be draining to think about all you have to do, but when you remember why and how great you're doing, it helps to motivate you to keep going.
- REWARD YOURSELF FOR SMALL WINS
I'm always down for a good reward. If I finish X amount of blog posts in X amount of time, I can shop online for an hour! If I do this, then I can go out for drinks later with my girls. Whatever the reward may be, do it if you thrive off of prizes. We all have our kryptonite.
--------------------------------------------------------------
So there we have it! Those were my top six ways I motivate myself. Now, how do you motivate yourself? We can never have too many methods if you ask me! One of my favorites is the rewards because then I can shop. :) Speaking of shopping, how cute are these two outfits from Cabi Clothing?! I'm so obsessed! Everything I am wearing is from Cabi (except my gladiator sandals). I love their clothing because it is always so comfortable, figure flattering, and amazing quality.
As some of you may know, Cabi items can only be purchased through a stylist, but I'm excited to tell you guys that they now have an app called Cabi Tap and you can instantly shop looks through the app! It's pretty awesome because you will still be paired with a stylist! If you haven't jumped on the Cabi train, you are definitely missing out!
Thanks so much for reading! XO

ReplyDeleteGirl, this post was speaking to my heart today! I slept in way too late today and now feel super down on myself but just have to remind myself that I'm recovering from a birthday weekend haha and that tomorrow is a fresh start! When I get a late start to my day, I try to finish strong at least so the day isn't a total waste!
ReplyDeleteTotally needed this post. I love the "just start" - sometimes that's what gets me is thinking about it, and not just doing it!
