Our Gender Reveal Party

Hi Friends! It has been quite a while, I know.

This post is LONG overdue, but if you've been following along on my Instagram page, then you know that my life has been a bit of a whirlwind here lately. As I lay here in the hospital, I thought it would be a fun distraction to get back to blogging and share some highlights I experienced before my extended bed rest began. I entered into my third trimester on Saturday (thank you God!), so I will be sharing a second trimester bump date post soon with details on my hospital stay and everything else I experienced in my second trimester.

For now, let's talk about my fabulous Gender Reveal Party back in May!

Baby Johnson is a GIRL! :)

Y'all, I was SO convinced that this baby was a boy! I don't know why, but that is what I thought. Marcus was always saying girl, but the closer we got to the reveal, he started believing boy too so needless to say, we were both SO surprised in the best way possible. I can't wait to spoil my little Princess and to see my husband as the best dad! He's going to be so wrapped around her little fingers!

For our gender reveal, we decided to have a small gathering at our house in the backyard with our closest friends and family that live in the area! With the pandemic still not over, I was very adamant about not having it in the house and also keeping the number of guests low. In my mind, by September when we wanted to have our Baby Shower, the pandemic would be over and we were planning to have a big Baby Shower with ALL of our loved ones. See how you plan and God laughs?

Anyway, at the very last minute (and by last minute, I mean the day of), we decided to create a Zoom link for our friends and family that couldn't make it and because it was so last minute, we couldn't think of everyone to contact. However, we enjoyed sharing this beyond special moment with our family and friends that attended in person or virtually! I truly think that day goes down as one of the top 3 happiest days of my life.

Since our Gender Reveal was only two weeks before my 30th birthday, I decided to do all of the decor and planning myself to cut costs! I think everything turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself! I made a beautiful photo backdrop, we had a dessert station, good food, and a huge confetti popper reveal. So much fun and it did not break the bank. I will link all of the supplies I used below for your convenience!

Oh, before I get into the decor details and links, I have to shout out my amazing "Keeper of the Gender"! My cousin, Dr. SaCara Shaw-Pride! She is one of my most favorite people ever and I'm so thankful for her! Having a Keeper of the Gender is KEY in pulling off a surprise for not only your family and friends, but for Mom and Dad as well. We were adamant about finding out with everyone and not knowing beforehand, so at our doctor's appointment, they put the gender in an envelope and I took it straight to my cousin so I wouldn't be tempted to peek! She kept the secret even though my Mom tried to wear her down, haha!

Okay, now let's get into the decor details/links of everything I used!

I bought all of the streamers for the photo backdrop from our local Dollar Tree and my Mom made the confetti from the tables custom on her Cricut! We decided to do a Cravings Station for food and so we basically had all of the foods I had craved so far during pregnancy (pizza, fruit, hot wings, pickles, etc.). It was perfect! We got our cake from Cakes and Sweets by Cece and it was absolutely perfect AND delicious! Lastly, our confetti cannons are from Gender Reveal Surprise and they were AMAZING. I did a lot of research to find confetti cannons that were biodegradable and that would shoot up high in the sky. These did the trick and they aren't that expensive at all. I mean look at these awesome pictures! We had confetti on the roof, haha!

I'm so thankful to our friends and family for celebrating this amazing day with us and I am so excited to be having a little Princess! She is SO loved already. If you have any questions about any details from our Gender Reveal Party, feel free to comment below or email me! I'm always open to share!

Thanks so much for reading! XO
