How to Have a Cozy Indoor Picnic at Home

I've always been a homebody, but being in quarantine for so long has made me even more comfortable in my home (as if I needed any more comfort-ability, haha). Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to being able to go out to dinner or brunch with some of my friends and my husband, but I'm not really in any rush to do so! COVID 19 is still hovering, so we need to not forget that. Y'all be safe out there!

Anyway, if you're anything like me and actually quite enjoying your time at home, this post is for you! A couple of weeks ago, I shared this post highlighting 10 at home date ideas. The post including candle making, soap making, building a fort, and much more! However, one of my absolute favorites was having an indoor picnic for our anniversary! It was super easy and inexpensive to put together, so I thought I would share details of how you could do it too.

How to Have a Cozy Indoor Picnic at Home

1. Go to the Grocery Store
You can have any type of food you want for your picnic, but I think I prefer finger foods unless it is a theme of some sort. It's just easier to put together and it is actually quite filling. When I went to the store before our picnic, here's what I picked up.

- Crackers
(I prefer Town House Flatbread Crackers.. they come in various flavors!)
- Pretzels
- Cheese
(I bought blocks Pepper jack Cheese and two others that my husband likes and I sliced them)
- Assorted Fruit
- Cold Meat
(I bought pepperoni and turkey pepperoni)
- A Bottle (or two) of Wine

2. Grab a Large Soft Blanket and Pillows
You want a large one that is comfortable to sit on and then LOTS of pillows! I set up our picnic in an empty space by a wall so we could sit our backs up against the wall. I took pretty much all of the pillows from our couch and set them up all around us.

3. Plate and Prepare your Food
I sliced the cheeses and put all of our food on a cute platter. I poured us some wine and then set some fresh flowers on our picnic set up because they are pretty and we were ready to go! Feel free to add some sweets to your picnic spread or even some breads.

4. Enjoy!
We had great conversation and then watched some episodes of our favorite TV show and we had the best night.

Have you had a picnic at home? If so, what type of food/drinks did you have? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below!

  10. My husband and I have done indoor picnics since we first started dating, and I love them. We get fancy cheese, drink wine, light candles, play board games, and it's sooo much fun! I'm glad you have a love for them as well.
