Hi Lovelies!
Today, I wanted to share further details about my husband and I's nightstands. When it came down to choosing decor for these, I knew that I wanted them to look symmetrical and cohesive, but I also knew that I wanted them to showcase both of our personalities individually. This goes back to the things I was talking about on our master bedroom reveal post. When creating a unisex bedroom for a couple, you want to be sure to incorporate things that you both like; nothing too girly and nothing too masculine. I tried to use that mindset in every aspect of the room, including our nightstands. You can see my post on our master bedroom reveal here.
So, let's start with my husband's nightstand.
Well, before I get into the specific details of his individual pieces,
let me tell you guys how I tied them both together. In order for me to
keep symmetry and cohesiveness for visuals, I focused on a few key
shapes for both of our nightstands and then I tried to figure out what
those shapes would be. I knew I wanted lamps, a picture, and flowers so
that would be my symmetrical items for sure. All of the other things
sort of came over time in order to add levels and dimensions. I decided I
wanted to add some sort of book for height and then I had these red
candles already from Christmas time and I wanted to add those for the
pop of red you see in our pillows and rug. Those just so happened to add
the dimension I was looking for!
So now for his individual pieces. For him, I know he is loves jazz. So when I decided on a book, I knew I wanted to get him a jazz book. This book turned out to be the perfect size and exactly what I was looking for so I knew I had to buy it. Then, when Marcus and I got engaged, my Mom gave him this beautiful gold miniature saxophone and case. He was keeping it on his desk in his office, but we found a much better home for it in our bedroom on his nightstand. By the way, I let him pick which wedding photo he would want on his nightstand and he picked this one. SWOON! :)
Now, here's mine!
This book represents my love of style, fashion, and of course, Christian Louboutin! I have never spent that much on a book (unless we're talking college textbooks!), but I think it was definitely worth it and for sure a fashion-lover's collective item! Of course I had to have an elephant to represent my amazing sisterhood in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and this just happens to be one of my most favorite elephant pieces I own. Oh, and the mirrors behind both of our nightstands add depth and dimension as well. You will come to see that throughout our home we have mirrors everywhere. My mom says I get that from my Granny because she always loved to decorate with mirrors too!
So there you have it! These are our nightstands for now, but in a few months I could possibly switch up the decor completely, who knows. For now though, I really love them!
Thanks for reading! xo
