I am super excited about today's post because it has definitely been a long time coming! Although the room isn't 100% finished, I am FINALLY ready to reveal my husband and I's master bedroom to you guys here on TJE! :)
I think I have mentioned it here on the blog before, but purchasing a home as truly shown me just how much of an indecisive person I am. It has taken me entirely too long to get our room even to the point that it is now, but I must say I believe my indecisive-ness has paid off because I really love it! When it comes to decorating, I think the best thing to do is take your time to find the things you LOVE, and don't just buy stuff to fill space. I really want either an ottoman or some square benches for our room, but I haven't bought any yet because I am indecisive on the color and style. I'd love your suggestions! :)
So, let's start at the place I believe every bedroom should start... the bed! Let me just tell you guys that I have wanted this bed for YEARS! However, I knew I wanted it in the king size and our apartment bedroom just wasn't big enough for a king size bed, so I bookmarked this one and said I would come back to it whenever we got our house. Now, here we are and I am still so in love! Can we just talk a second about how much I LOVE having a king size bed?! I seriously didn't know what we were missing before, but now I never want to go back. My husband always would complain that I hogged the bed, but now he's practically begging me to be closer, haha! Anyway, I think this bed is perfect for married people because it has a great balance of feminine and masculinity. I've seen similar beds to this with little diamond gems in the headboard and I just knew as a married person that would not fly! However, this one is perfect. Our bed is from Rooms to Go in the Sophia Vergara collection and it also comes in black.
I'm not sure where our comforter is from because we actually received it as a wedding gift two years ago, haha! I really loved it, so I decided to just hold on to it until we got a king size bed and I am so glad I did because it is perfect! I threw in some red pillows from the At Home store because red is my husband's favorite color and I am quite fond of red myself (Oo-oop my sorors!), and boom, now I have an accent color to play with!
Our amazingly soft red rug is also from the At Home store and unfortunately they do not have an online store so I can't link it for you. I will, however, link some similar rugs below! This rug is everything. I love to just curl up on the floor on this rug sometimes because it feels so soft. When people come to visit us for the first time, I always tell them they have to take their shoes off and walk on it because you just can't believe how soft it is.
I am obsessed with our nightstands from Wayfair! I love how they match the bed pretty perfectly and the details on the knobs. Funny story; if you watched my Instagram story, then you know about my husband saying he didn't know what to put in three different nightstand drawers and how he said he's never had three before. Well, when I finally came back home from Chicago, I made the outstanding discovery that our nightstands only had two drawers (bless his heart!), so yeah, it was pretty funny. It only gives the illusion of three with the knobs, haha! Anyway, I'm not going to talk about the nightstands much here because I'm doing a separate blog post soon about "his and her" nightstands! :) You can find our lamps here.
A while back, I took a poll on Instagram story asking which dresser I should buy, and I'm sorry guys, but I didn't end up buying any of the ones I asked about! I'm telling y'all, I'm super indecisive! Anyway, I bought this dresser and I really love it! It has mirrored detailing just like the bed and nightstands, and again, the color matches perfectly. My mom says I have a great eye to find all these things from different places online and yet they match so well. I decided to display our wedding album and one of my favorite wedding pictures on the top of the dresser.
Just showing the other walls in the room! That huge mirror on the wall is where I take plenty selfies and I bought the "This is our Happy Place" printable here. They have so many cute things I have had my eye on for other areas of the house too.
D E T A I L S
Bed: Rooms To Go, Sophia Vergara | Comforter: Wedding Gift | Red Pillows: At Home (similar here and here) |
Red Area Rug: At Home (similar here) | Nightstands | Lamps | Wall Picture (frame from At Home) | Dresser | 'Jazz' Book
Christian Louboutin book | Tall Mirror: HomeGoods (similar here)
So this pretty much concludes the tour of "our happy place"! I am so happy with how it all has come together so far. It truly is one of my favorite rooms in the house and it just feels so cozy. Like I said above, I want to add an ottoman or square benches, so if you guys have any suggestions on which one you think would be best, I'd love to hear them! I also want to add a little more artwork and stuff on the walls. I'm not 100% sold on the round mirrors above the bed, but it'll do for now.
Thank you guys so much for reading! I'll be sharing more #HousetoHome posts soon! XO
