Today is a very special day and a very special edition of Friday Favorites because it is my best friend in the whole wide world's birthday! What better way than to have a 'Friday Favorite' post than with my favorite?!

When I tell you that I have known this girl since we were two years old and I can't remember a time of my life where she wasn't present! I feel SO blessed to have a friend with so many years under our belts. We have been through it ALL together and no matter what, we have always remained friends. You know what they say, some friendships only come around for a season, but through all of the seasonal friendships we have both endured, our friendship has stood the tests of time and for that I can't thank God enough!

Since it is such a special day, I thought it would be cool if I introduced my best friend to you guys through a "Best Friend Q&A". I've seen other bloggers and vloggers do this type of post and I have always been interested in learning about their best friend, so I thought why not?!

A little background: Her name is Chanquilla (SHH-ANN-QUIL-A.. don't mess up her name y'all!). She has a calm demeanor and a resting face that'll probably make you think she's mean, but she is the opposite (unless you piss her off). She's so nice, so giving, so selfless, so smart, and so beautiful! She is in Pharmacy School right now in Georgia killing it! We both graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2013 and we are line sisters in Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc.

Soooo here we go with the questions!

1. “How and When did we first meet?

 Chan: So, so so long ago…I’m not sure of the exact time but we were younger than 3 years of age I believe. We both went to K.I.D.S University Childcare Center (which was my Aunt Daphyne’s daycare) and the rest was history.

Jam: We met at Kids University when we were like two years old, but I don't exactly remember it! My mom has videos of us hanging out all throughout our childhood so I know it happened, but my true memories start in the 5th grade. 

2. “Who is the one person that you look up to most in the world?

Chan: That’s such an easy question for me! I look up to my mother the most in the world. She is ambitious, loving, generous in her ways, selfless, well-loved and endowed, wise beyond her years and driven. I couldn’t tell you everything I adore about my mother in a year’s time. When I move on to my next life I hope that my family and friends say the same things about me that they currently do about her. I know NO one else like that women! My mother has given me more purpose in life and encourage me to go after every dream I ever thought of. She has been a great example for me in every way possible. She lets me be myself, make mistakes and learn from her own. Besides God, she has shown me and others the greatest kind of encouragement, love and friendship anyone could have.

Jam: I look up to a few people, but if I had to choose just one, I would have to say my Mom. She has motivated me my entire life to be the best me I can be. She raised me as a single parent and not one time during my childhood did I ever feel like I went without anything nor did I hear her complain. She showed me what strength, dignity, selflessness, and love looks like and I will forever be grateful to her for the way she raised me. I could only hope that one day I can be half the mother she has been to me!

3. “If you had just one place in the whole world that you would love to go to, where would it be? Why would you want to go there?”

 Chan: I would like to go Africa to explore a new place where I don’t know what to expect. Seeing the unexpected is exciting for me right now. Specifically, I want to see Egyptian pyramids, structures that have been standing for thousands of years, the beautiful clear water, caves and culture.

Jam: I really want to go to Maldives. I just think it is absolutely beautiful there and I know that whenever I do go, I want to stay at one of the most beautiful resorts and do all there is to do there. You can literally stay at a resort in the middle of the water. 360 degree views of ocean.. so amazing and so relaxing!

 

4. "What is your favorite memory together?"

Chan: My favorite memory is going to college and pledging Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. with one another.

Jam: My favorite memory is having late night heart-to-heart conversations with Chan in college about any and everything. We would laugh, cry, gossip, and everything in-between. I miss those times!

5. "Describe each other in one word."

 Chan: Heartwarming

Jam: Steadfast

6. "What is your best friend's dream job?"

Chan: Jam’s dream job is to continue her work in entrepreneurship, build her brand through her blog, continue to be a lifestyle enthusiast and to be well-endowed in the fashion industry.

Jam: I think her dream job is to own her own pharmacy, but I could be wrong! I know she wants to own her own business.

7. "What is something that annoys you about the other person?"

Chan: Even though to most this is a great quality… It completely PAINS me when my best friend is nice to people that don’t deserve her kind energy or selflessness. I know she has a forgiving heart BUT sometimes it “grinds my gears” of how merciful she can be. UGH!! Sorry Jam, I had to say it!

Jam: I get annoyed when she doesn't take enough time for HER. She has such a big heart toward those she truly loves and sometimes she puts others needs and wants before her own. She can stretch herself way too thin sometimes!

 

8. “What is the one thing about your best friend that you admire most?”

Chan: I admire her joyful spirit. Her energy is always upbeat and blissful.

Jam: I admire her work ethic, drive, and determination. No obstacle, big or small, is enough to turn her away from her dreams. Oops. That was more than one thing, huh? lol

9. “Favorite Inside Joke!”

Chan: We have a lot of inside jokes. My favorite being that when we are in the same room, we can have the exact same feeling, thought or idea on our mind. Her and I can identify that we are thinking the same thing because our eyes immediately meet and we laugh aloud. It’s tickles us both silly.

Jam: We truly have so many inside jokes! I mean, we have known each other over 20 years so we literally have had some crazy funny times. I'd have to say my favorite is "Ready Cosmo?? Ready Wanda!" HAHA! Simply because I really can't even remember why we started saying it! I just know we both laugh every time.

10. "What are your best friend's nicknames?"

Chan: Jay, Jam, Jammy Jam & Bestfriend 

Jam: Well, let's see. Chan for one haha, and then there's Quilla, Chi Chi, Channy. I'm sure I'm missing something!

11. "Something weird your best friend eats?"

 Chan: It’s not what she eats, it more of how long she will eat/snack on the same thing. Once she finds something she likes, she will eat it over and over and over again. She can immediately make something her favorite food.

Jam: OMG she's ALWAYS eats weird stuff! However, if I had to pick just one, I would say it's weird that she eats tomatoes whole like they are apples! YUCK!

12. "What is it like being best friend's with someone who is obsessed with blogging?"

Chan: I admire her blogs and blogging style because she’s able to express her passion for writing, help others, and showcase her interest for fashion. For me, being happy is turning something you love into a job and I believe she has done just that. I’m completely supportive in her “obsession” with blogging.

Jam: She loves me. :)

13. "Heels or Flats?"

Chan: Heels of course, darling!

Jam: Heels!

14. "What is your favorite makeup brand?"

Chan: MAC Cosmetics & Mary Kay

Jam: MAC is the place most of my holy grails come from!

15. "Random advice for my readers?"

Chan: My advice to your readers would be to follow your dreams and accomplish all the goals you set for yourself! Write them down, keep them in your mind and pray them into your life. It’s never too late to go after something that you have a passion in your heart for. People will knock you down and not build you up, but it’s up to you to have the last word and say over your life.
Jam: Y'all see why she's my favorite? :) LOVE HER!

Wishing her the happiest birthday ever! She's down in Georgia right now probably studying for a big exam, but I hope she gets to AT LEAST enjoy her birthday a little tonight at dinner or something. I can't wait until we get to celebrate together when you're home this summer. Love you forever! xo
