I love birthday parties, especially when the party is for a little person! :) My God-daughter turned one years old last week and her Mommy, one of my best friends Zakiya, threw her a Luau party! Oh my goodness, she was TOO ADORABLE in her little hula skirt and bikini top! I just cannot believe that my little baby girl Nyla is already one! I feel like I was just in the hospital with Zakiya waiting for her to get here and we just celebrated her first birthday.

Time. Flies.

I don't get a lot of opportunities to take pictures with my new camera my husband bought me. Usually he's using it taking pictures of me! I'm excited I had a chance to capture this little princess' 1st birthday party. I hope her Mommy and Daddy like the pictures and cherish them so when she's old enough she can remember her day! I'm still learning all the tricks and things I can I do, so bare with me as I share a couple shots from this beautiful day! I took A LOT of pictures, so I'm not going to share them all, but here's a few! Enjoy! :)
The BIRTHDAY GIRL, Nyla Korrin!
She was so excited when everyone started to sing happy birthday to her!

Have any of you just sat back and thought about what truly makes you happy each day? Have you ever just took a break from your every day routine and the things that bring you stress and just REALLY put into perspective the things that bring you the most joy? A couple months ago, I was asked the same questions and my answer was no. I knew I was happy most of the time, but I also knew I was stressed, frustrated, and unhappy a lot of times as well. I was in the midst of planning the wedding of my dreams, yet I was upset a lot and just feeling...incomplete. When I tell y'all I cried SO. MUCH. I was an emotional WRECK! My mom seriously thought I was pregnant because the smallest things were causing me to cry and my poor husband didn't know what to do with me.

I knew it wasn't those small circumstances causing my tears, but balled up feelings I had not dealt with like I needed to. I knew that something had to change, but I wasn't exactly sure what needed to change. Do I need to change myself? Do I need to change my circumstances? Some of the people I surround myself with, is it healthy for me? Am I doing what I want to do or am I worried about what the next person is doing? This was seriously a conversation I had to have with myself and I literally had to come full-circle to find ways of making myself happy. & that's just it, ladies and gentlemen! The million dollar answer: YOU have to make YOURSELF happy and it took me awhile to figure that out.

I was dependent on my friends, family, husband, co-workers, and whoever else I associated with to bring me happiness like all the time and when that didn't happen, I was unhappy angry! I needed that connection every single day or I felt there was something wrong with me or that I wasn't good enough. This was an issue I had to work out on my own. It was no one's fault but my own for feeling this way. I had to realize that I am growing and the people around me are growing as well and because of this growth, we can't be dependent on each other for our happiness ALL the time. You have to find your own happiness within and with your own circumstances you're forming for yourself. I'm still a work in progress and I am still dealing with small issues I haven't worked out, but trust me, I AM HAPPY because I CHOOSE to be! I am so blessed! :)

SO! Here's a few ways I have adapted to creating my own space and happiness. I hope it helps someone like it has helped me.

1. Count Your Blessings Everyday - This one is HUGE! How can you be unhappy when you think of all the blessings God has given to you?! Just because things don't go the way you want them to go today, doesn't discredit the fact that he has provided your every need and you live a beautiful life. Others aren't as fortunate and for that alone, you should be able to smile every day.
2. Find or Restart A Hobby You Love - One of the many reasons I started this blog! I have wanted to for a long time, but I always made or found an excuse not to. Ever since I finally started, I feel so complete and happy! This is truly a passion of mine, writing and fashion, all mixed into one and it is amazing! Find something to do for YOU!
3. Don't Worry About Others Opinions of You - It's hard to be happy if you're constantly worried about how others will portray your happiness. Will they think you're bragging or being cocky? Will they support you? Will they be happy FOR you? Once you stop caring what the answer to those questions are, you'll lead a happier life. :)
4. Do Nice Things For Others - I am one of the most selfless people and I do it because it makes ME happy, not so much the other way around. If I had a dollar for how many good deeds I have done for people and I didn't feel I was appreciated for it, I would be RICH! However, I keep doing those nice things because of the joy it brings me. You should try it!
5. Don't Be Against Finding New Friends and Losing Old Ones - MOST IMPORTANT! Life is all about evolving and when you evolve, everyone might not be able to go with you and vice-versa! I HATE losing friends and honestly, I hated making new friends. I used to feel like it was too much work! However, once I grasped that everyone is not meant to be around for every part of your life, but some are just for season, I feel better and happier. I no longer cry when I feel I have lost a friend and I am COMPLETELY open to making new friends! I have made some wonderful new friends and can't wait to see where our friendship takes us! Happiness all around! :)

"Sing a song, dance along, and for all your days, you'll be happy and strong!" :) I totally just made that up, but I hope it made you smile!

I feel like a mom that has neglected her children! I know it has been way too long since I last posted and I am so sorry! My dream would be to stop everything and literally focus solely on this blog, but unfortunately, my passion isn't paying the bills YET! :) I've had a lot going on, but seriously, I promise to try my best to do better. My husband has agreed to hold me accountable as well so we should be back on board!

Man, I've missed you guys! So happy to be back in my favorite space; my blogging world! I feel like I have so much to catch you guys up on! For now, let's talk about this outfit. I am IN LOVE with this dress! I bought it like at the end of the Spring and I am just now wearing it! (Crazy right?!) It is one of the most comfortable, flow-y, colorful, and fun dress EVER! I love it because I can wear it now and I can also wear it in the early days of fall with riding boots! I think it's sold out online, but you might be able to find it in stores on sale still! GO GET IT! :)

Sidebar: My husband took these pictures of me at our pool and we realized we have never taken advantage of how awesome our pool is! Summer is almost over and we haven't been in the pool once! Haha! That is what happens when we are super busy people! We are definitely going to try to take advantage before the summer goes away this year.

I absolutely LOVE sleep. Seriously. It is like one of my all-time favorite things to do! You know what else I love besides sleep? Coming home from a long day and throwing on some cute lounge clothing. There is nothing better than throwing on some sweatpants or a nice over-sized shirt and sitting in front of the TV while eating junk food. When you're comfortable, it's just better! So, when I saw that Casper, a memory foam mattress company (not the friendly ghost) based out of NYC, was on the hunt for some pics for their "Beauty Sleep Style Challenge, I was all for it!

So, while we are on the subject of sleep and relaxation, let me just tell you guys a little bit about my night time regime for my skin. When we sleep and relax, we are giving our skin a chance to rejuvenate and relax as well. It is important to always wash your face thoroughly at the end of the day to remove dirt and makeup from your pores as well as wash away the oils from just being out and about all day. I always, I mean ALWAYS have to wash my face in at least three steps each night. Sometimes, if I want to take the extra time, I'll have about 5 or 6 steps, but that is on a monthly basis. I generally use Clinique products to clean my face. They are so gentle, but powerful and I always see results. Try it, you might like it!

So the big question here, the reason why I am doing this challenge. What do I wear to bed??

To put it bluntly....

Beauty Sleep Style Challenge

THIS, ladies and gents, pretty much sums up what I like to wear to bed. I am an over-sized t-shirt and shorts girl for sure. You won't ever see me in any fluffy pajamas because I get WAY too hot at night for that. Long pants? NEVER. Sometimes, even these t-shirts can be too much for me! Most nights, especially in the summer, I go for a tank top and boy-shorts. It is so comfortable and cool, and I sleep like a baby! My husband and I are perfect for each other when it comes to sleep because no matter what season it is; winter, summer, spring, or fall, we HAVE to have our fan on when we sleep. It is a MUST!

Now, don't get me wrong. I DO own some fluffy, leopard print, long-sleeved pajamas. However, I will never sleep in them. I use them more-so as lounging clothing. My mom generally buys me a new pair of pajamas for Christmas every year, and they are usually so cute I just wear them around the house before bed, and then when it's time to go to sleep, they come off! I had a really cute onesie last Christmas that had cows on my feet! ADORBS!

Even though I feel I'm boring when it comes to my sleep wardrobe, I still try to find cute t-shirts that reflect my personality. I absolutely LOVE this Wildfox Jersey Night Shirt from Nordstrom! How cute is that? I totally wish I had jumped on that during the #NSale. Victoria Secret always has cute night shirts as well, so I never have to settle for ugliness when I'm sleeping. :)

Now, I want to hear from YOU! What do you like to wear to bed? Anything interesting or cute? Shoot me a comment below and let me know!
