10 Creative At Home Date Ideas For Couples

It has been just about three months since the world completely shut down and we all began practicing social distancing in our homes. My last time going out to a public place was for brunch with two of my girlfriend's on March 15th and I have been in the house (leaving only for essential things) ever since! Kind of crazy to think about isn't it? I honestly don't even remember the last time my husband and I went out for date night. However, we have been spending SO much extra time together at home over the last few months and to be completely honest with you guys, I'm loving it! We are already pretty big time homebodies (me more-so than him.. but he has a little of it too), so staying home hasn't been too difficult for us. We are that couple that really enjoy being up under each other a lot anyway, so we haven't had to adjust too much. Being forced to stay home has given us the opportunity to get creative and find new fun things to do together at home!

If you and your significant other need some ideas for some fun things to spice up your relationship after being up under each other for months, you are in the right place! It's totally natural if you guys are kind of in a place where you really need some spice! Especially if your normal routine has been completely turned upside down. Don't feel bad if you're struggling a little bit to find the romance. This weekend, or whenever you have the time, I encourage you to try one or two of the following at home date ideas. Each idea doesn't even require leaving the house to prepare! Between grocery delivery services, Amazon, and things you probably already have on hand, you'll be all set. I think you will find that you guys enjoy it and you'll create new memories you didn't even know you needed!

1. Have An Indoor Picnic
Marcus and I celebrated our 5 Year Wedding Anniversary back in April and an indoor picnic is how we celebrated! It was really a lot of fun and it doesn't require a whole lot of work to make it successful. We went to the grocery store and purchased wine, two different cheeses we like, some crackers, pretzels, and fruit. We put a blanket on the floor and some throw pillows, and BOOM we had a picnic! It was super cozy!

2. Create Tik Tok Videos
Who said Tik Tok wasn't for us millenials?! I have actually been enjoying the app very much! People are SO creative and coming up with fun Tik Tok videos and recording them with your significant other would be so much fun. I've only been able to talk my husband into doing one, but I'm trying to get him dancing on there very soon!

3. Create Your Own Sip n' Paint
This is actually one of Marcus' ideas, so I'm sure the fellas would be right on board. I’ve also been itching to do this! I have some friends who have done it and they said it was a lot of fun and their pictures turned out REALLY cute! There's so many free step-by-step painting tutorials on YouTube that you can follow, and you can order all of your supplies from Amazon or a craft store. Grab a bottle of wine, put on some mood music, and enjoy yourself!

4. Make Soaps
I actually got this idea from my best friend. She made soaps with her boyfriend a couple of weeks ago and they turned out SO cute! I had no idea that you could purchase soap making kits! There are so many different types of soaps that you can make. I bought some colorful soap and we will probably make our soaps this weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, I'm sure you'll see it in my stories when we do it.

5. Make Candles
I bought this kit as well and I can't wait to try it with Marcus. We have places here in Tennessee where you can go, pick out a scent and vessel, and make your own candles so since we are stuck at home, this is literally the next best thing! Just like the soaps, there's so many different types of candles you can choose to make and the kit comes with everything you need.

6. Have a Game Night
Marcus and I are super competitive with each other, so having game nights are always fun for us. We love playing Uno together most of all, but there's a lot of games you can play with just two people. Checkers, chess, charades, battle of the sexes, etc. Another option is to have a virtual game night as a double date! We did this for one of my friend's birthday and we played Taboo through Face-time. It's easy if both couples have the game because the cards are the same. Play guys and against girls and it'll feel like you're together in the same home.

7. Bake Something Sweet
Have a contest to see who can bake the best cookies from scratch or just simply bake something you both love together. If you find a new recipe, it may be fun to try to bake that together. Whether it comes out good or bad, it'll be fun to experience! If you can be fair, you can judge either other to see who really won! If not, the fun will still be just baking.

8. Tackle a Home Project Together
Now I already know Marcus will not agree with me on this one, haha! However, I LOVE tackling home projects with him! Whether we are putting together some new shelves or cleaning out a closet, doing it together is just so much fun to me. If your significant other enjoys doing home projects, then this is the perfect date for you!

9. Hit a Workout Together
I'm not too big on working out, but Marcus is and so when I decide to join him on a run or some workouts, he's always really excited. Don't forget to incorporate some things your guy loves into your date ideas! Working out together can not only be fun, but you're getting in shape and being healthy at the same time.

10. Build A Fort and 'Camp In'
This was our most recent date night and oh my gosh it was a blast! When I told Marcus I wanted to build us a fort, I honestly thought he was going to think it was so silly, but he didn't! He enjoyed it so much that we ended up leaving the fort up throughout the week and hanging out inside in the evening. We even made s'mores with unscented candles and they were delicious.

How did I make the fort? I took a queen sized air mattress and inflated it. Then I hung a large sheet from the wall and draped it over chairs and poles from my photo backdrop (tall lamps work too). I added a fitted sheet, a blanket, and some pillows for comfort. I also draped some super cute twinkling lights for when it got dark outside and it was finished. We ate pizza and then had our s'mores for dessert. We watched movies in the fort and other things. We even pretended that our fort was a cabana on the beach, haha! It's a nice change of pace and honestly feels like a new room in your house! I highly recommend trying it.

What have you been doing to keep your relationship spicy doing quarantine? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
