Hey Y'all! Welcome back to Through Jam's Eyes!

I am in the BEST mood possible because it is FRIDAY and next week is Thanksgiving week! Ah! When a major holiday like Thanksgiving is in the middle of the week, don't you just feel like you don't want to do ANYTHING productive?! Work doesn't seem as important.. all you want to do is prep for the holiday and just get in the spirit. It is literally the most wonderful time of the year! I've already been in Christmas mode, but this time next week... just know it is ON! :)

Anyway, today's post is ALL ABOUT Black Friday shopping! Last year, I wrote this post giving a good list of tips for Black Friday, but today I'm going to add a couple more. Black Friday shopping has always been a tradition for me. In fact, when I was a little girl, back when Black Friday shopping ACTUALLY happened on Black Friday (some of these retailers are getting quite ridiculous opening on Thanksgiving), my Mom and I would go out at midnight in some cute Christmas pajamas. It was so much fun! This year, we aren't looking for anything specific so it'll be fun to just be out to see what deals we can find instead of rushing to get in line. If you do have some things on your wish list already, I suggest you go and read last year's post and then come back to this one for even more tips and tricks!

8 Black Friday Shopping Tips

1. Make a List.. Check it Twice (Had to do it, haha!)
Check out all of the Black Friday Ads ahead of time and then make a list of all the things you want to get while you're out. Then, most importantly, try to STICK to this list or you'll end up buying things just because it was a 'good deal' and you'll get home and be wondering who you're going to give it to! Trust me, I speak from experience.
2. Put Your Shopping Bags in the Trunk or Out of Sight
This one is SUPER important because..safety! Make sure while you're out shopping, you keep all of your shopping bags out of plain sight in your vehicle. We'd like to think people won't break into your cars, but let's be honest.. people can be crazy and this is the perfect time of year for the crazies to come out. Just be safe!
3. Wear Comfortable Shoes
There is nothing worse than planning a full night of shopping and then being uncomfortable the entire time because your feet hurt! I'm all for being cute and everything, but make sure you're cute AND comfortable.
4. Dress in Cozy Layers
This is another biggie. Especially if you plan to get to stores before they open and have to stand outside in line. Layer up so you won't be freezing, but be sure it's things you can remove because while shopping you may get warm.

5. Take A Shopping Cart or Stroller
So I have to think of my Mom while talking about this one! I have to admit, her little shopping cart that she keeps in her trunk, it used to embarrass me as a kid. I'm not sure why, but honestly, do we ever know why our parents are just SO embarrassing when we are kids? I guess they just are! Anyway, now in my adult life, I LOVE that she keeps a cart especially when we are shopping in a mall. Who wants to carry a bunch of bags all day? Not me! Get a cart!
6. Start Your Night With A Full Tank of Gas
Fill up your tank preferably the day before so you won't have to worry about getting gas really late at night. It's just not safe and it'll be one less thing to worry about!

7. Have Snacks!
I'm personally the type of person that always has some type of candy or something in her purse and you definitely want to have some snacks on hand during your late night shopping extravaganza. Some food places may capitalize on black Friday shoppers, but just in case you're in a place where nothing is open, have something and some water!

8. Relax and Try To Have FUN!
Most importantly friends, try to have a good time and don't stress out! Black Friday shopping is so much fun if you don't sweat the small stuff. Be in the moment and let things roll how they roll.

So there you have it friends! 8 new tips for a successful black Friday and if you read this post from last year, then you'll have 16 great tips! Your Black Friday should go extra smooth. :)

Happy Friday Friends!

I hope you all had a great week and are gearing up for an even better weekend. STAY TUNED! There's a HUGE Amazon giveaway at the end of this post! :)

Today, I wanted to take the time to reflect on thankfulness. During this time of year, it is common for us to reflect and think about all of the things we are thankful for and I almost did a "things I am thankful for" blog post (because let's be honest..I have LOTS to be thankful for!), however, I just wanted to focus on the #1 person I am thankful for.. my husband.

My husband Marcus and I are actually celebrating our "date-aversary" today so this post is right on time! We have been together for nine years today and I honestly couldn't be happier! It doesn't even feel like it has been nine years because time flies when you're having fun. He's seriously my backbone and my complete other half, and I have no idea what I would do without him!

Let's take a moment to look at some of our early year photos together, shall we?

This is one of the first pictures we ever took together back in 2007, but we were just friends. This was at my birthday dinner!

It's so funny to look back on these photos because we were SO YOUNG and had no idea what we were getting into with this relationship. We started dating when I was 18 and he was 20. It's scary to take a leap of faith and date your best friend because you never know how that story will end, but God made him just for me and I am so glad I sent him that relationship request nine years ago today. He's literally my BEST best friend and knows everything about me and vice versa. He has stood beside me in hard times and happy times. I know we will face many more hardships and victories as the years go on, but I also know that we can face anything.. together.

Here's a list of a couples of reasons why I am thankful for my husband.

1. He is a hard-worker.
2. He protects and provides.
3. He makes me laugh.
4. He tells me when I'm wrong.
5. He SPOILS me. :)

6. He loves my Mother ALMOST as much as I do.
7. He's always trying to please me/make sure I'm happy.
8. He's extremely dependable.
9. He's so selfless and has a great heart.
10. He tells me I'm beautiful every single day.

11. He's a realist.
12. He prays for me.
13. He values me and the work I do for our home.
14. He's trying his best to show me the world.
15. He deals with my jolliness before December & throughout the holiday season. :)

16. He encourages me to follow my dreams.
17. He takes out the trash, haha
18. He's extremely handsome and sexy!
19. He takes me out often.
20. He LOVES me. Flaws & All.

I could seriously find a zillion other reasons why I am so thankful for my husband, but I will stop now! He is seriously God sent and I couldn't have asked for a better husband. I thank God for him every single day. Have you reflected this year on the things/people you are most thankful for? Be sure to let them know as often as possible because life is SO short! I love you Marcus Johnson and I can't wait to have your babies some day! :)

Hey y'all!

I hope you all have had a great October! I can't believe that tomorrow is Halloween aka the last day of the month. This month seriously flew by and I don't really know where it went. I lost my Grandmother on October 1st and it really doesn't feel like she's been gone a month already. Sheesh! I celebrated Halloween this past weekend, so I've honestly already moved on to Thanksgiving/Christmas mode! Haha Can y'all relate?!

Anyway, let's talk Fall Dates! I'm always down to find some new and fun ways for my hubby and I to get together and have date days/nights. Trying new things with your significant other can really spice up your relationship or just simply keep it spicy (pumpkin spice perhaps?). There's so many different fall things you guys can do together, so today I wanted to share 8 fall things I love and things I'm hoping to do with my honey this season.

8 Fun Fall Date Ideas

1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
2. Go to a Football Game
3. Carve or Paint Pumpkins at Home
4. Learn a New Fall Recipe and Make it Together
5. Visit a Fall Festival/Harvest
6. Have a Picnic in the Fall Foilage
 7. Cuddle Up and Have a Movie Marathon
8. Go Horseback Riding

What are some things you and your significant other love to do during the fall? I'd love to get some new ideas! My hubby and I went to Cheekwood here in Nashville last weekend and it was so much fun! They had all the perfect photo ops for me and a beer garden for him. Win Win! :)

Thanks so much for reading! xo

It is officially Fall at the Johnson's house because I finally finished my decorating!

I was a little behind this year for two reasons. Number one, after losing my Grandmother on October 1st, I honestly wasn't in the mood for it. I struggled to gain my fall spirit, but I tried REALLY hard because I know she would have LOVED my home decor. The second reason was our vacation to Maui and I honestly don't mind that delay one bit! I wish we were still there honestly. Hawaii is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I'll do a travel guide soon.

Anyway, on to this fall decor post! Last year, I did a Fall Decor Ideas post and a lot of the things I did last year, I did this year as well. I just added a lot of extras for some added pizazz. :) One of my favorite additions was this door mat because it applies to my life so well! I'm always hiding packages from my hubby because I have a little bit of a shopping problem, haha.. no worries though, I usually get caught! Why am I never home when the packages are delivered?!

Now, come on inside my home! I'm super excited to show you guys my mantle, dining room table, and other 'knick knacks' around the house. I really enjoy decorating and I can't wait to just sit and admire all of my decor while one of my fall candles are lit. Enjoy! xo

It's my favorite time of year! I hope you guys enjoyed my decor! :)

Now that I've finished this decor, it only has me super ready to decorate for Christmas too, haha. Thanks so much for reading! xo
